I don’t usually write posts like this one, but this year I’m making an exception. I won’t be making any big plans, I prefer to stay focused and realistic. In order to do that, I needed to set reasonable and achievable goals. I decided to stick to some of the things I’ve already been doing in 2016, but I’m taking that a step further in 2017. In addition to that, I’m starting with some things which have been on my mind for a while now, but I never found the time to sit down and decide how and why I want to do them, but now I know. Anyway, let’s get to my plans & goals in 2017!
DECLUTTER
I’ve spent a big part of 2016 reading about minimalism, how to declutter (your home, life or whatever you need to declutter), how to simplify your life… and I’ve been really good at decluttering one area in my life: my closet. I’m 90% satisfied with how it looks at the moment; I still need a few statement items, but in general – I’m almost done and I see a bright future in front of me when it comes to my closet. I am so happy I finally got at the point where I like the clothes I have and wear, even though it took me a long time to get here – two years, to be more precise (I started decluttering my closet before I actually knew about ‘decluttering’ / minimalism as a movement).
My plan is to declutter all other areas in my life – craft supply, make up, kitchen, etc. Some areas are easier than others (like kitchen – super easy to declutter), but I’m taking one step at a time since it’s REALLY important not to rush anything. It is difficult to get rid of stuff, especially since it took me years to collect some of it, and it would be unrealistic to expect I can get rid of it in just one afternoon. I mean, it would be great if I could, but it’s just not the way it works. Of course, this is a long-term plan since it will take me a long time to declutter everything, but I feel now that I’m ready since I have experience. Anyway, I will let you know how I’m doing!
BUY LESS / NO NEW MAKE UP IN 2017
This might seem a bit radical, but I don’t think it is. Buying less is something that’s connected to decluttering (at least that’s the case with me). I want to buy less stuff in general (I actually have a list of items I plan to buy in 2017) since that’s how I got in over my head with the clutter in the first place – buying too much without thinking if I really need a new item in my life, and if I even have the space for it. Not to mention the amount of money I wasted on items I didn’t really need. This year will be different and I’ll finally pay more attention to how I spend my money, why I spend it and I’ll be writing everything down because I want to have a clear overview of my finances.
Along with spending less, I decided to quit buying new make up and by that I really mean – NO new make up in 2017! It might seem strange and crazy, but to be honest, all this make up I already have is just suffocating me and I really want to use products I own, and quit being a hoarder. This will also be a way to help me declutter my make up since I’ll be saying goodbye to some products I haven’t used in ages. Further more, I’m looking forward to using up many products in 2017!
As mentioned, I have a list with products I plan to buy this year, and when it comes to make up, this is my list:
- Maria Nila Cacao Intense (link)
- liquid foundation (still searching)
- mixing liquid from Make Up Store (for cake eyeliner)
Definitely satisfied with my list!
BE CREATIVE
I’ve been struggling with my creative side in 2016, and I want to do something about that this year. I miss being creative, so for this year I came up with a plan: every week I have to spend 3 hours doing something creative. It doesn’t matter if I spend this time all at once or if I divide it, but it has to be 3 hours per week (if it’s more, then it’s a plus!). I have so many options like watercolour painting, knitting, making cards… you name it, I just need to let myself go and create.
I would also love to take a course in photography / water colouring / ceramics, but I’m not really sure I have the time since all courses are a few weeks long. For now, I’ll just work on my own and in case I have extra time, I’ll use it wisely!
EXPLORE STOCKHOLM
I’ve been in Stockholm for two years now, but sometimes I feel like I don’t even know this city. To change that, I’ll be exploring Stockholm 2 or 3 times a month in order to get to know it better. I also decided to share my favourite spots in Stockholm so that you can get to know it, too. And who knows, maybe you’ll visit it one day and my posts might help you to explore it easily.
Along with exploring new places in Stockholm, I plan to share with you my favourite spots like favourite coffee shops, favourite second hand shops, favourite parks, and so on. I want you to get to know Stockholm through my eyes, and I hope you’ll like that!
I do have some other things on my mind, too, but I think I’d rather keep it real than to push too many plans down my path. I can easily add something if I think I can manage it, but I really don’t want to feel overwhelmed with too many plans. As I said at the beginning, it’s important that my plans are reasonable and achievable, otherwise I might give up if it seems too difficult / too much.
How about you? Have you decided anything for 2017 or that isn’t your cup of tea? Feel free to share in the comment section!
